Margao, May 19: In a very daring and filmy act, four youth looted a Margao-based businessman on Saturday May 17 night at knifepoint and fled with Rs 80,000.
According police, incident happened at 10.30 pm, when businessman Siraj Sayyed Mohiddin Kaji (27) was returning to his home, after closing his mobile shop, with his friend on bike. Suddenly a Maruti Zen chased him and stopped on the way. After intercepting his mobike, four youth who were in the car, attacked Siraj and his friend, beat them and later fled with Rs 80, 000 in cash.
The culprits wearing mask on their faces owing to which Siraj could not identify them.
Although a complaint was lodged soon, police did not take anyone in custody so far.
Robberies and looting incidents are high in the state these days. But people say that police are hardly taking any stringent measures to curb this trend and nab the culprits.
Elsewhere at Panaji, thieves who managed to break into five offices, managed to decamp with cash and articles worth Rs 50,000.
When the incident took place, the security personnel of the said building were on leave, police sources said.
