Haveri: Muzrai department temples in state to offer puja seeking rainfall

Daijiworld Media Network - Haveri (SP)

Haveri, Aug 16: The state is reeling under severe drought condition for the second year in succession. Although some parts of the state have recently received some rainfall, northern districts have stated parched and people need water very badly.

The government plans to beseech the gods for blessings with the hope that performing puja to them might bring in some rainfall. As the government finds it hard even to get enough water to supply by tankers, muzrai minister, Rudrappa Lamani, said it has been decided to pray to the gods to save the state from this situation.

"Because of the worst drought staring us in the face, I have already toured Kollur, Murudeshwara, Malemahadeshwara and Chamundeshwari temple with family and offered special puja there. A Swamiji in a temple has said that performing puja to presiding deities of the temples in the state at 5 am everyday for two weeks will result in good rainfall. I have already asked officers in the department in this connection and official orders to perform this puja will be issued in a couple of days, the minister stated.
