Workshop on Effective Teaching held at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur, Aug 3: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St Philomena College organized a workshop on ‘Effective Teaching’ for the faculty members of the college on July 29 in the PG auditorium.

The campus director and chairman of the Centre for PG Studies and Research Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro in his inaugural address said, "A great teacher is one who possesses incredible knowledge of the curriculum and expertise in the language."

The principal professor Leo Noronha presided over the programme and said, "Teaching is a noble profession. Teacher is an administrator of the class. Teachers should never demand respect, they should command it."



In the first technical session, Fr Arun Lobo, director of Shanthi Kiran Counseling Centre Mangaluru delivered a presentation on the topic ‘Understanding Youth Psychology’.

In the second technical session, professor Vrishabharaj, former HoD of Physics, SVS College Bantwal spoke on the topic ‘Teacher effectiveness’.

Assistant professor of PG Studies in Mathematics Amritha Shenoy rendered the prayer. IQAC coordinator Dr A P Radhakrishna welcomed the gathering. Coordinator of PG Studies in Physics Dr E Deepak D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks. Assistant professor in Commerce Jesline D’Cunha compered the programme.

    Excelent to have this programme, congrats to the organisers and participants.
    I have been dealing with this topic for decades, however not in Karnataka. Now, since I reside in Mangalore, I could conduct a Faculty Development programme, aswell other programmes for your students.
