Mangaluru, Aug 1: World Breast Feeding week was inaugurated at the Hospital Conference Hall of Father Muller Medical College Hospital, here on Tuesday, August 1.
Dr Poornima J, senior specialist, Lady Goschen Hospital, here, was the chief guest of the programme.
She enlightened the audience on the theme of the breast feeding week and highlighted its importance. She encouraged the mothers towards the theme, 'sustaining breastfeeding, together'.
Fr Richard Coelho, the director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions also addressed the gathering.
Dr Lakshmipathi welcomed the gathering. Dr Nishant Krishna proposed the vote of thanks. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, adminstrator, FMMCH, Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean, FMMC, Sr Janet D’Souza, chief nursing officer, FMMCH were the dignitaries present.
The programme was organised by the OBG, community health and peadiatric departments of Father Muller College of Nursing and Father Muller Medical College.
Weeklong programmes such as education programmes, quiz, games, and poster competitions will be conducted at the Hospital and outreach centres.
