Panaji, May 6: Orissa police arrived here on Tuesday May 6 to take the custody of Raja Acharya, main accused in Biranchi Das murder case.
Acharya had surrendered before Panaji police on Monday May 5 afternoon and was kept in Panaji lock up.
Inspector general of police Kishan Kumar stated that Orissa police team arrived in the state this morning and took the custody of Acharya, wanted in the murder case. He was produced before the local court and transit remand was attained.
Orissa police team headed by assistant commissioner of police suresh Mahapatra will be taking Acharya to Bhubaneshwar. 'We are yet to decide when to take him,' Mahapatra told reporters outside the local court here.
He said that Raja has been on the run since the murder and police had launched an extensive search for him. The accused is a noted criminal with more than 30 cases of extortion, murder and robbery against him.
While Acharya was escorted out of the court, the media tried to talk to him but were stopped by the police.
'An IAS officer is framing me in this case,' Acharya said in a passing remark before being pushed into the police jeep.
Goa police have said that they have not interrogated Acharya as he is wanted by Orissa police and all the investigation would be done in Bhubaneshwar.
