Mumbai, May 3: Bombay Catholic Sabha [BCS] has condemned the intimidatory tactics by the local Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Kargaonkar from Tembli Pada demanding admissions and threatening the St Xaviers School, Bhandup principal Fr Francis Carvalho with dire consequences if his requests are not met.
BCS has sought the intervention of deputy chief minister and home minister, in order to provide security to the school and the principal.
For the last several days Ramesh Kargaonkar has been putting pressure on the school principal to accede to his requests. As there is a clear policy by the Archdiocesan Board of Education, the principal has explained to the corporator that he will have to go by the rules.
On Wednesday April 30, things became worse when the corporator threatened that he would misbehave with the women staff at the school, if his demands were not met.
A first information report (FIR) has been lodged by the school principal with the Parksite police station in this regard.
'We have urged the deputy chief minister to ensure that adequate protection is provided for both the school and principal,' Fr Francis Carvalho, spokesman of BCS informed Daijiworld correspondent.
