Mangaluru, Jul 22: St Aloysius Evening College, a unit of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), inaugurated a crash course on GST in Sanidhya on campus, on Saturday, July 22.
The course has been organised for the benefit of the general public.
Chief guest Shreyas K M, assistant commissioner of Central Excise and GST, Mangaluru, inaugurated the course and said that GST was not merely ‘old wine in a new bottle’ but a major landmark tax reform that has the potential to unify the Indian economy. He also stressed upon the need to strengthen the supply component to make the new tax more effective.
Dr VB Hans, dean, Faculty of Arts, was the emcee. Dr Manohar V Serrao, principal, SAEC, welcomed the gathering.
CA Colin Rodrigues, the resource person, Ravi Shetty, vice principal, SAEC, Dr Donald Lobo, director, Diploma and Certificate Courses, SAEC, and Hithesh Madivala, president, students’ council was present on occasion.
More than 60 participants from various fields registered for the programme.
The sessions will be held between 2 and 6 pm on Saturdays, and between 9 and 1 pm on Sundays.
