Mangaluru: Two brothers held for running illegal slaughterhouse at Bajpe

Mangaluru, Jul 17: Two persons, who were accused of running an illegal slaughterhouse at Addur near Bajpe were arrested on Sunday, July 16.

The arrested accused were Mustafa (27) and Abdul Majeed (23) from Addur. They were arrested by a special police team led by Bajpe police inspector, T D Nagaraj, during a raid on a house at Addur on Sunday morning. Mustafa and Majeed are siblings and they already face six cases in Bajpe polie station, one in Surakal and station and another in Kavoor station, it is learnt.

On June 16, Bajpe police led by inspector, T D Nagaraj, had raided a spot at Addur, and seized a Tempo Traveller vehicle, a Duster car, a Ritz car and 16 cattle. Relating to this incident, the police were on the lookout for these two persons. As both had gone missing since the above incident, the police had not been able to arrest them.

Police say that the brothers used to buy cattle which were stolen. Investigation is in progress now.

    Thats why in many rural areas the cows from the shed disappears. So illegal slaughter houses be detected and closed so that our cows survive.

    These guys were just trying to make a living. Slaughtering of "stolen" cattle is just an accusation.

    What I am concerned is that india has a very big population. There are lot of people without any means for making a living and improving their lives. When govt brings rules like blanket ban on slaughter or closing down of liqure shops there will huge number of people who will lose their means of living. Next dairy farmers ate going to be adversely affected because of cattle slaughter ban. I really can't understand is that are the govts hell bent on distroying the livelyhoods of people.

    Our politicians are just too stupid to ever think of larger problems that may arise of of dumb laws they pass.

    Stupidity is evident in the comment what some people put.. not just the politicians.. LOL
    Illegal slaughter house existed for decades, not after modi rule… and where exactly is the slaughter ban? What illogical excuses some people come up with.

    I again repeat, it is not just the thugs who steal cattle are the problem. Real probkem lies in the educated supporters of the criminals who bat for them. Law must be expanded to all indirect players in this cattle smuggle trade only then the menace can be contained.

    First of all I don't buy your stolen/smuggled cattle claim.

    Secondly, what is a point of criminalising certain trade activity (if the cattle slaughtered by them are not stolen). And why not slaughtering of chicken, sheep, goat and pigs are not illegal? Now don't go back to the stupid claim that these cattle are stolen. I am sure that 90% of those "stolen" cattle will actually sold. And also what about the stolen chicken or goats? I have not heard any news story were police have caught goat ot chicken thief. Surely those might be stolen somewhere.

    These laws are brought up to specifically target certain communities and I am even sure that 99.9% of the people who favour cattle slaughter ban don't even own cattle.

    Lastly I want to say is that I don't trust what police have to say in this matter. They have been really efficient in catching "cattle traffickers" largely due to their right wing buddies.

    Luckily the media reported 16 cattles and not as COWS.... Media is slowly learning the correct version .... But lakhs of cows are slaughtered for EXPORT and no one is bothered .....sub kuch chalta hai

    They already have 6 cases against them in three different stations but they are roaming out freely..!!

    Please make a limit for people to have cases. Once they have more than certain limit, shoot at sight should be issued, as simple as that. We normal citizens don't feel safe with such goondas and rowdy sheeters roaming around us freely.

    Illegally they kill and make huge profit within night...and they say they don't get beef because of communal tension....they do anything for money .....6 cases is only registered....unregistered think how many.........the rates of beef is high and is going up.....difficult for poor to think of beef.....we pay so high rate for leagally killed and medically fit beef.....

    But people don't complain if chickens are killed in illegal slaughter house, people don't complain if pigs, goats killed in illegal slaughter house.

    even people not bother about illegal slaughter of cows but it become big issue when the cow theft is started by threatening the owner. but we people here supporting the same criminals in the name of freedom of food, religion etc. there is no objection for critics against bjp, rss, vhp, bd with a genuine reason but don't use the same for supporting these criminals.

    Rightly said.. people who tend to support these criminals are unknowingly inviting wrath of poor farmers whose cattle is stolen by the criminals with a machete in their hand.. helpless famers will only curse them and the system.. people need to grow up to understand the pain and suffering of farmers instead of blindly supporting thugs for choice of food.
