Udupi, Jul 12: Three employees of Northwest Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, who are facing the charge of raping a minor girl inside the bus at Ranebennur bus stand, stand suspended. Haveri district divisional controller, V S Jagadish, issued suspension orders of these employees on Tuesday July 11.
The suspended employees are driver-cum-conductor, Raghu Badigera (35) attached to Ranebennur transport unit, Y C Kattikar (45) belonging to Hirekerur transport unit and driver, V R Hiremath (45). All these accused were remanded to judicial custody by a court in the city.
The three have been accused of gang-raping of a 15-year-girl residing near Udupi , duly taking advantage of her helplessness, inside the bus bearing registration No. KA 42 F 449 that was parked inside Ranebennur bus stand. A complaint about the rape was filed in the women's police station here. The accused, who have been booked under stringent provision of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act, were arrested on July 9, are currently lodged in the district prison at Hiriyadka.
