Cricket: Harbhajan 'slaps' Sreesanth, Makes him Cry

PTI

MOHALI, Apr 25: Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh and Kings XI paceman S Sreesanth were involved in a bitter row on Friday, following which the fast bowler was seen crying bitterly on the ground at the end of their IPL match here.

Harbhajan allegedly slapped Sreesanth after the paceman said something to Harbhajan which offended the off-spinner.

The off-spinner however had a long chat with Sreesanth in the dressing room of the Punjab team and even believed to have apologised for his behaviour.

Harbhajan though did not speak on the issue when he came to address the post match conference.

"Can we have questions on just cricket," Harbhajan said when asked about what happened between him and Sreesanth.

The winning captain Yuvraj Singh was upset by the unsavoury incident and termed it "ugly".

"This is really an ugly incident. You do not want to see such things off the field specially after such a win. I am pretty upset at what has happened. This is totally unacceptable," he said apparently criticising Harbhajan Singh.

Yuvraj though said he did not know what actually transpired between the two.

"I do not know what exactly happened but one does not want to see such things happening."

Kings XI coach Tom Moody was also visibly upset by the incident and termed as "unacceptable" Harbhajan's behaviour.

"At the end of the day, players shake hands. But today saw more that from Harbhajan and Sreesanth. It is unacceptable behaviour and I am sure officials will take of note.

"The positive thing is that Harbhajan had a long chat with Sreesanth. But I am not sure what ramifications this incident will have," Moody said.

Upset after his team's third successive defeat, the turbanator also looked unhappy with his teammates.

"When you lose nothing seems to be okay. I won't bowl and bat for other people. They have to be captain of their own bowling and own bowling. I can not do other's job," he said angrily when asked if captaincy was tough.

"I don't like losing. When you lose, you don't feel happy."

Shame on the people who supports this act. There is code of conduct in  cricket & there are people to look after this. Never suppotr this act, if this continues may be one day there will not be cricket team instead there will be wrestling team.Criticise whatever is not acceptable. It's not Bajji to take the rule in his hand. It has spoiled the image of India and he should be punished for that.

Bhajji should be banned for life from the cricket and posted to Kashmir since he is a DGP Punjab. He is childish, how can he do this infront of a national television. I agree Sreeshanth is bit aggressive, but Bhajji ? how can he do this infront of a national television. What a shame ! Shetty, Udupi

Well, Harbhajan has done the right job. There is a limit for everything and when a person speaks some ugly words its not tolerable. Harbhajan has done right job by putting a full stop to this bad culture. Its the matter of self image also...Swabhimana...

Harbhajan and Sreesanth are 'bad boys' of Indian cricket Both Harbhajan and Sreesanth have become the 'bad boys' of Indian cricket. One somehow felt that Sreesanth would not fall in line with the notorious Harbhajan Singh who already has a very bad image both in Indian cricket and abroad. Harbhajan has been warned in the past for his indiscipline by the top officials but somehow managed to remain to be in the team.

He should have been cooling his heels at home long long ago. Sreesanth feels that he is a super hero which is his undoing. Very soon he may find that he is an unwanted member for his bad behaviour. He has taken his agression very far and this may cost him his place in the side.

That no one is indispensable in Indian cricket can only be proved if the Board slaps a ban on both these cricketers for a few years. Everyone else will then fall in line and behave better both on and off the field. India has plenty of players to replace both Harbhajan and Sreesanth !

It was too late for Sreesanth to get the deserved treatement for his on or off field antics from the rival teams. Bravo our own team member finally taught him a lesson

I had a glimpse of yesterday's match during the final overs only, as I opted to go for Derek O'Brien's quiz at IHS. What I observed was Sreesanth's behaviour has been pathetic, for a moment I thought he was trying to impress Bollywood actress Preity Zinta for his sides victory.

As a matter of fact both Harbhajan and Sreesanth have ridiculed the indian spectators during the Australian tour & now, they don't deserve to be in the team until they mature. If they want to be aggressive, they should take private lessons from Ganguly & Yuvraj and learn modesty from Dravid & Dhoni. IPL / ICL are the perfect platforms where Harbhajan & Sreesanth can correct themselves by learning some good cricket from International stars, as well as respect for other players. Yes very true, Harbhajan and Shoaib Akhtar deserve the same treatment from ICC.

Play basic cricket, try to get wicket by your ability, aggression cross its limit then its a cheating, Mr. Srisanth you deserve the treat. Concentrate only on cricket. Meantime take action against Harbajan to save gentlemen's game.

Off the field or on the field, later or sooner, this is an expected incident. One has to take the risk and Bhajji did this. No matter what was the reason but Sreesanth deserves this for his ugly attitude on the field.

Whatever Bajji has done on the field is always unacceptable. Srishant is contradicting the fact that he was crying on account of this only because Bajji is his own colleague. It was rather good to accept his defeat instead of doing foolish things like this.

The racist Harbhajan Singh has shown his true colors. It is clear that he is unable to control his emotions. It seems sure from his actions that when angry he can go to any extent including making racist gestures and comments. Where are all the people who were supporting him then? Even Sachin has lost his stature because of supporting him. He should be given the same treatment by BCCI as Shoaib Akhtar. Lets see what Sharad Pawar does.

Well ,Its not a surprize!!! For the kind of attitude and the nakras Sreesanth makes on the field, anyone would love to slap him and ask him to just play good cricket. What is surprizing is that Harbhajan had to do it. I thought Hayden or Symonds would slap him during the Australian tour. At least now, Mr Sreesanth should concentrate only on cricket
