Karkala, Jul 9: A missing person was found hanging on a tree on Sunday, July 9 at Kerekody near Bola here.
Surendra Kulal (26) is the deceased.
Surendra Kulal went missing from July 2. His brother had lodged a missing compliant first. Then an abduction complaint was also lodged later.
Police have already interrogated a friend of Surendra named Jeetu, Jeetu’s wife and Rajesh. Some versions say Surendra was killed and hanged. Some theories say Surendra must have hanged himself after going through depression because of assault.
Why Surendra was assaulted?
Surendra worked as a driver in school bus in Belman.
Jeetu and Surendra were good friends. When Jeetu’s mobile had some problems, he had used Surendra’s mobile to phone his wife on a day in the end of May. The next day Surendra sent a ‘Good Morning’ message to that mobile. Jeetu did not like this.
On July 2, a friend named Rajesh took Surendra on a bike. After that Surendra was not seen by anybody.
As per details available now, Surendra was taken to a secluded place and assaulted by a group. Surendra phoned his cousin Dayananda and said he was in trouble. Surendra was found screaming during brief conversation.
When Surendra did not return home, his family phoned Jeetu. They were surprised to hear the words from Jeetu. “Tell Surendra not to ever disturb me. I have sent him back home on Varaprasada’s bike.” Jeetu had told them.
Some people say injured Surendra was spotted in an auto rickshaw in Belman on July 2. But this could not be confirmed.
Police sources say that a person named Mahesh and his gang assaulted Surendra. Police have so far interrogated Jeetu, his wife and Rajesh.
It is yet to be known whether Surendra was killed and hanged or committed suicide after assault. Post-mortem report will provide more clues, said police sources.
