Mangaluru, Jul 9: Minister for food and civil supplies U T Khader lashed out at BJP leaders for polticising the unrest that is happening in Dakshina Kannada district in the past few days.
In a press release, he said that maintaining peace in Dakshina Kannada is the utmost priority of the state government, and appealed religious as well as political leaders to unite to restore peace in the district.
He said that miscreants who are motivated to disrupt peace in the district will not be successful and the state government will ensure that strict action will be taken against them.
He said that compensation will be awarded to the family members of SDPI activist Mohammed Ashraf and RSS worker Sharath Madivala, who were killed recently. Both do not have criminal backgrounds and were killed by miscreants belonging to different organizations, he said.
While directing police to keep an eye for rumours spreading on social media, he slammed union minister D V Sadananda Gowda and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje for issuing 'irresponsible statements'.
Earlier, Shobha Karandlaje had alleged that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and minister U T Khader were responsible for communal unrest in the district and had asked CM Siddaramaiah to expel them. Meanwhile, DV Sandanada Gowda had blamed the ministers’ for ‘vitiating the situation in Dakshina Kannada district’.
