Mangaluru: Ladyhill English School plants ‘hope' marking Vanamahotsava

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 8: Ladyhill English School, celebrated 'Hope' – the festival of trees on its premises with great enthusiasm and fervour, to mark Vanamahotsava.

Students planted the saplings they had brought from home.

They pledged to save mother Earth with a meaningful prayer service conducted by the students of Class VII.

Headmistress Sr M Silvian AC highlighted the concept of trees being 'the lungs of the Earth' and said, "Plants are considered the lungs of the Earth because they produce oxygen, which is necessary for all life.  So, in essence, since our lungs keep us alive and trees keep our lungs alive we can consider trees a part of our lungs' existence.

"Our students led by their teachers and other children enjoyed this experience. Such genuine concern for the environment is incredible," she added.

A skit, about a human life revolving round a tree for all its necessities, was enacted. Many slogans on ‘Save Trees’ were displayed. A dance on 'Save Earth' was performed. All of which highlighted several environmental concerns and the importance of trees.
