Mangaluru, Jul 1: Some reports have claimed that Bharath Kumar Kumdelu, who the police have named as the main conspirator in the murder case of SDPI leader, Muhammed Ashraf Kalayi on June 21 at Benjanapadavu in Bantwal taluk, stands arrested. With this, the total arrests in the case has reached seven.
It is said that city crime branch police made this arrest. Some masked miscreants who had arrived in motor bikes had intercepted an auto rickshaw driven by Ashraf, waylaid him and hacked him to death. The incident had given rise to tension all over the district, compelling police to beef up security measures.
It is said that Bharath, who has now been reportedly arrested, had shared dais with Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat during a press conference a few days before the said murder. This matter had gained several dimensions in the days following this murder. Bharath, who succeeded in hoodwinking the police all these days and evaded arrest for long, was finally taken into custody by the police, sources stated.
