Mangaluru, Jun 30: Vanamahotsav was celebrated at Maryvale Higher Primary school, Kinnigoli on Friday, June 30.
The chief guest of the programe Philomena Sequira, president, grama panchayat, Kinnigoli, in her address encouraged students to preserve trees which play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance. She added that it is the responsibility of each citizen to not only to grow, but also take care and to protect plants and trees.
The little students of Std II and IV presented the marvelous beauty of nature through dances, poems and skit on nature under the dynamic leadership of headmistress Sr Nisha D’Souza.
The Vanmahotsav was a great success as the dignitaries, teachers, students and their parents joined in planting saplings around the school. The programme ended with the slogan 'Grow green and Go green'.
Earlier, headmistress Sr Nisha D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
Shain Mascarenhas and Jane Cardoza compered the programme. Shawn Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.
