Mangaluru, Jun 22: Newly appointed superintendent of police (SP) Sudheer Kumar Reddy took charge on Thursday, June 22.
Previous SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase was transferred to Bengaluru as DCP (administration) and Sudheer Kumar Reddy was brought in his place through an order passed by the state government on Wednesday June 21.
As the appointment was made amid clashes in Bantwal taluk in the district, Borase handed over charge in a simple ceremony of only shaking hands without any speeches from incoming or outgoing SP. There was no big gathering of police personnel.
Sudheer Kumar Reddy was SP of Chikkaballapur till this new appointment came.
Reddy, an IPS officer of the 2010 batch, is a B Tech graduate from Pondicherry Engineering College, and native of Narsaraopet in Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. He served as additional superintendent of police in Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district, and later as SP of Bidar district.
Bhushan Gulabrao Borase came to Dakshina Kannada as SP in May 2016.
