Puttur, Jun 15: In a fresh development, it is now claimed that HJV district president Ratnakar Shetty, who was reported to have fled from a hospital where he was undergoing treatment, did not flee at all, but was only taken to another hospital for tests.
Ratnakar Shetty had been admitted to Adarsh hospital in Puttur after he was injured in the clashes that erupted in Kalladka two days ago. It was said that he had been stabbed. It is also alleged that Ratnakar stabbed a person named Khaleel, who is also admitted to another hospital.
Early morning on Thursday June 15, it was reported that Ratnakar Shetty had escaped from the hospital despite tight security, after which three cops were suspended for negligence.
However, now, doctors at the hospital have claimed that Shetty did not flee, and had instead been taken to a hospital in Mangaluru as he developed chest pain. Tests such as x-ray and ECG have been done, and now he is back in the Puttur hospital, admitted in the ICU, doctors said.
According to sources, when asked whether Ratnakar Shetty was taken to another hospital without the knowledge of the police, a doctor reportedly said that as he was not under official arrest yet, they did not need police permission to take him to another hospital.
When contacted, SP Bhushan G Borase said that he too has received messages in this regard. When asked why the cops were suspended if Ratnakar Shetty had not fled, he said the matter is being investigated.
