Bantwal, Jun 15: The situation in Kalladka in the taluk, which had witnessed several incidents of disturbances and attacks, has remained calm since the last two days. Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Bhushan G Borase, said that three additional contingents of Karnataka State Reserve Police force have been summoned from Hassan aand Chikkamagalur districts to manage law and order situation in Kalladka.
Borase stated that additional director general of police (ADGP) of Karnataka, Alok Mohan, who is in charge of law and order, will be visiting Kalladka on Thursday June 15 to take stock of the situation.

So far, 18 persons stand arrested relating to incidents. The arrested people belong to both the communities that are at loggerheads. The SP assured people that there need not be any apprehension about innocent people being taken into custody by the police. Family members of certain Muslim and Hindu families visited the police station here on Wednesday June 14 evening, urging the police personnel to release people arrested by the police, whom they claimed to be innocent. Some also accused police of arresting innocent people just to show to their superiors that they were working on the situation.
People from both the communities have urged the police to identify culprits on the basis of CCTV footage and take them into custody.
