Vijay Mallya drops in at Kohli event, Indian team avoids him

New Delhi, Jun 6 (PTI):Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya yesterday landed up at a 'charity dinner' organised by Virat Kohli's foundation but the national cricket team including the skipper maintained a safe distance from him.

In fact, Mallya's presence forced the Indian team to leave early in order to avoid any controversy.

Mallya, had earlier watched the India's match against Pakistan at the Edgbaston on Sunday. He has currently taken refuge in England.

The Indian government is trying for Mallya's extradition from UK for alleged unpaid debts to the tune of Rs 9000 crore.

Incidentally, Mallya used to own Royal Challengers Bangalore, an IPL franchise which is captained by Kohli.

A BCCI source present at the event confirmed that Kohli and the Indian team were "uncomfortable" due to Mallya's presence.

"Look, Virat or his foundation never invited Mallya at the function. But normally what happens at the charity dinner is that someone who has bought a table is entitled to invite his guests. Similarly, someone who bought a table must have invited him," a top BCCI source present at the function told PTI today.

"The Indian team wasn't comfortable and they maintained a dignified distance from Mallya. Mallya's presence is one of the reasons that team left early. The players were very uncomfortable. It was an unavoidable situation as one couldn't have possibly asked him to leave," the source said.

The timing of his launching KF airline business with models was wrong since the oil prices were at their peak during that time. He would have succeeded if he had started it now. Even though Mallya is not much associated with KF, he must be knowing the secrets of beer making. But I don't think it's a good idea to start alcohol business in UK as the costs involved are high and population is less and also due to BREXIT. He needs to come back to India and launch new brand of beer, but need to keep away from calender business.

In my opinion Mallya needs to restart his beer business with some other brand name and expand it all over the world & sell it a bit cheaper than KF. He is no longer much associated with KF now and he can repay the loan after convincing the banks that he is going to repay after his new company makes profits. Here I have tried different beers from different nations, but nothing like KF beer.

Those who were part of team RCB know lots. I know Mallya family. One insider toik him for a ride but Vijay is not the man who would do this. Forcefully he had to relieve himself from Indian soil. His hardwork did lots for India. Even the so called Kanji Government that time, most of the rascals enjoyed with Mallya and now cribbing. Let the truth speak for itself.
Vijay Mallya you have more than 200% of my support always.

exactly..i think its media trial..if not he would have found solution..NDTV like national media hunted him..he is one of great entrepreneur of India..he suffered losses in only one bussiness i.e KF Airlines..Airline bussiness is very risk, thats why major business houses reluctant..MALLYA is risk taker, he saved MCF from shutting down, he would have revived BRAHVARA sugar factory if politicians allowed....its funny that, NDTV which day/night carried MALLYA news, did media trial, now crying witch hunt when their promoters caught in money laundering..

Media trial or not....he has not let the proper trial take place. He must comply with extradition orders by India to appear in the courts and let the law take its course. Obstructing that process is itself a crime. To me, this also means he has a lot to hide and fears he will be found guilty based on evidence and not just media trial.

Some of our cricket players are still playing in Royal Challengers, Bangalore team owned by Vijay Mallya specially Virat Kohli is the captain of 20 Twenty team. So why avoid him ? If this is the case then they better come out of the Team.

    Dear all,
We can't blame Mr.Mallya completely. We have to blame those banks too who sanctioned him loans. If a common man wants a loan, the banks will ask for security which is almost three times more than the loan amount and a good amount of service charges. Recently, I have experienced this with one of the nationalized bank. What about the security which the bank obtained from Mr.Mallya? Rules are only for common man? These banks have made good money when Mr.Mallya's business was booming. Blame the banks too.

Malllya is still enjoying his life with W.W.W. although he may not be residing in India. And we Indians are still supporting him by purchasing KF and other beers and other UBL products.

More than money, I'm sure the players didn't want to associate with someone who is a wanted fugitive in India and who has refused to appear in courts.

What do you think, Mallya is bankrupt?

Not at all... his liquor business is doing good and he is still earning millions. His airline business was loss and he could not recover from it.
