Shetty plans to produce the said film on the basis of award winning Malayalam novel, 'Randamoozham' written by M T Vasudevan Nair.
Vasudevan has narrated the story of Mahabharat in the eyes of Bhima, one of the leading character, thorugh his novel. Hindi Aikyavedi organization from Kerala had objected to Shetty's plan, as it has been insisting that the title, 'Mahabharat' can be used for the film only if the story as written by sage Vyasa is presented in the form of a film. Accordingly, Shetty had said on Sunday that the film will be titled 'Mahabharata' elsewhere, and 'Randamoozham' in Kerala.
Shooting for the film will begin in 2018. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been chosen to play the lead role of Bhima.
