Bengaluru, Jun 4: The man arrested recently for harassing a job aspirant from Udupi, is a son of a Kashmiri politician and he has molested more than 200 women, as per police.
Abid Gani (26) is the person arrested. His father Abdul Gani Vakil was social welfare minister in the Gulam Nabi Azad government in 2008.
Abid, who had posed as an HR executive to sexually abuse a job aspirant at an MNC bank, was arrested by the MICO Layout police on May 31.
The accused is a serial offender and has harassed nearly 200 women in the last two years using a SIM with UP registration, police informed.
Abid was caught only after the 25-year-old woman from Udupi filed a complaint against him.
Abid presently stayed at Puttenahalli in JP Nagar and worked for a BPO firm in Whitefield.
On May 25, he had sexually harassed the Udupi job aspirant after she had come to attend an interview at an MNC bank on BG Road. He phoned the victim that she had failed in the interview and he would help her. Believing the caller, the victim went outside the bank to meet him, where he sexually harassed her. The victim, who had managed to escape, filed a complaint with the police. The police tracked his movements and arrested him on Wednesday

After investigating further into the case, the police came to know that the accused had molested over 200 women in the city.
The police obtained the call details and spoke to the women and confirmed the harassment.
The accused confessed to the crime and said that he got the phone numbers of women from job portals. He would then pose as the recruiter to harass them.
The victim from Udupi was called later to the police station to identify Abid. She said he was the one who harassed her.
Police are investigating the case.
