Kasargod, Jun 4: Relating to the case of brainwashing of 16 year old girl to induct into global terrorist organisation IS, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials have arrived here and begun the investigation.
As per information available, this mission was part of greater agenda of recruiting 1000 girls from this region.
NIA has confirmed that the IS was sending WhatsApp messages to many girls in its plans to identify the girls. Accordingly a 16 year old girl, who is from a upper caste, was also sent a message with a ‘hi’. She had just passed with A Plus in the last SSLC examinations. The message had come from Punjab from a person whose WhatsApp name ends with ‘Singh’. The girl was planning to reach a higher post in life as her mother is also holds a high post in legal profession. After many messages the man told her to join a local tuition institute to succeed in life.
The girl was convinced and she joined the tuition institute. Within days of joining, she developed some unexpected changes in her. The girl who was vegetarian started demanding non vegetarian food at home. The mother got suspicious which worried her.
Later the mother found that the girl was uttering names and activities of unknown during her sleep at night. These names and information regarding these activities could only be found in the media. The mother, with the help of relatives, took the girl for counselling and the girl revealed the truth there.
The girl was shifted immediately to a relative’s house in central part of Kerala and NIA was informed about the developments. Soon after that, the Nia officials arrived here. The probe has already begun and more officials are expected to arrive.
IS, in its plans to recruit 1000 girls from the area, uses WhatsApp first as a tool to send messages to indentify the girls.
