Mangaluru, Jun 3: The blessings and inauguration ceremony of a new science block at St Aloysius Pre-University College, one of city's most prestigious colleges, was held on Saturday, June 3.
The new block, which is situated on the third floor, was blessed by Fr Ravi Kumar Santhosh Kamath. The chief guest on the occasion, Fr Denzil Lobo, former rector, St Aloysius Institutions, inaugurated the new block by cutting the ribbon. Fr Dionysius Vaz, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin Mendonca, principal, St Aloysius PU College and Fr Leo D'Souza accompanied them.
Fr Denzil who spoke on the occasion said that it was a happy moment for all as the construction was completed on time. "I would like to thank the benefactors. We cannot even imagine these type of projects without their help. They stood with us for a good cause. So the credit goes to them too. The engineer and architect engaged in this project gave us the result before the deadline. The dedication of the entire construction team is highly appreciable,” he said.
Fr Melwin Mendonca said, "I believe in miracles and this block which was completed in three months is really a miracle. We faced many challenges to complete this building. But we never thought we cannot go forward. With the guidance of our rector, and the architecture and engineering team, we have achieved our goal. I am thankful to all of them. Collective efforts resulted in a new building before the beginning of new academic year. This is a joyful moment for all of us.”
Rector Fr Dionysius lauded the efforts of the entire team behind the construction of the new block and said, "The team carried out work carefully. No accident was reported during the construction. Everything was perfect. This new block is a gift for our students. The spacious large classrooms make students more comfortable. This quick completion of work is all due to the blessings of the almighty. The credit goes to all who supported us. I congratulate the principal, faculty, and students for this new building.”
The architect, contractor and sub-contractors were felicitated by the rector and chief guests.
