Mangaluru: Monsoon arrives in coastal districts – Early rains boost for agriculture

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Jun 3: Monsoon arrived in the coastal districts on Friday, June 3 marking the beginning of rainy season.

It poured from morning to the evening without any break in city. Fewer people were spotted on roads during the evening. Though pre-monsoon showers were seen on two days before the arrival of Monsoon, the rains on Friday were heavier. People who did not expect the sudden rains, suffered as they did not carry raincoats or umbrellas. Bike riders were the most affected with slippery roads.

Many parts of the city have been dug for repairs. Warning signs are not put as MCC has not taken these issues seriously. Hence few vehicles like cars, rickshaws and bikes were seen trapped in many places. An auto rickshaw was trapped in a ditch near Nanthoor.

Kinnigoli and Kateel received good rains. Beltangady, Suratkal, Mulky, Puttur, Manipal, Shirva, Belman, Brahmavar, Padubidri, Kaup, Hebri, Haleyangady, Mukka received moderate trains. Sullia and Moodbidri saw light rains.

City experienced heavy traffic jam in the evening due to rains.

Farmers are happy this year as the Monsoon arrived earlier than anticipated. They said agriculture in the region is expected to produce better crop this year which in turn will boost the local economy.

A pleasant news and I love rains. However I would like to remind all the monsoon time can be dangerous as far as diseases are concerned. Malaria Typhoid Jaundice and Dengue are dangerous diseases that strikes during monsoon. Unless we take care we can get affected by these diseases. I request all people to take precautions.social workers must also take good action and create awareness among public against deadly diseases .

We badly need the rains and God has answered our prayers but our city was not prepared for it as always. Many roads are dug up and not filled back with mud or tar. Tough time for pedestrians and all motorists.

This is the kind of news we anxiously look forward to hearing and listening from Mangalore. The timely rains are a blessing for the people and the places. The roads are wet and the trenches are full of flowing water, but all said and done rains are a welcome gift for our home town and for our farm. The field labor force are happy that they are needed more urgently than before, and their hard work will boost all our plans and desires.

It is a pleasing time to realize that our water wells will be filled with water. All the accumulated dusty environment is gone, and so also the dry soil and the heat.

Rain is a gift that is always welcome. More fruits more vegetables, more rice and more flowers too. All of the above is a welcome news that we read and listen and whisper a word of "Thanks be to God".
