Bantwal, Jun 1: The order issued by the block education officer here, asking the English language being taught in LKG, UKG and first standard of the government higher primary school at Daddalkad in the taluk to be stopped, has been stayed by the state high court (HC).
A HC bench presided over by Justice S Sujata issued this order. The school has been allowed to continue teaching the students as in last year.
Under instructions from Prof S D Siddaramaiah, chairman of Kannada Development Authority, the block education officer here had sent similar orders to 23 schools in the taluk, asking English teaching to be stopped forthwith. As future of 140 students in LKG and UKG classes of Daddalkad school faced uncertainty, their parents were worried.

The angry parents also had held a huge protest at B C Road on May 23 under the leadership of Sri Durga Friends, which has adopted this school for development. A writ petition was filed in the HC seeking justice. The bench, which heard the case last Thursday, had posted the hearing to May 31, after seeking clarification from the government. After hearing the arguments on Wednesday, the judge stayed operation of the order of the block education officer and asked the school to maintain the policy of education followed last year. Advocate, S Rajashekhar, had appeared in HC on behalf of the school.
