New Delhi, Jun 1: Senior journalist Arnab Goswami's flamboyant and persistent style of debate has itself become a matter of much debate, what with the Delhi high court telling him to cut down on the rhetoric and stick to facts. Panelists on his show find it a daunting task to win the who-shouts-louder duel, and most of them ultimately give up by the end of the show. But if there is anyone who can win, nay, just debate, with Arnab, it is Arnab himself, as a video that has gone viral shows.
Uploaded by Gaurav Pandhi, who happens to be Congress party's social media team functionary, the video shows the dramatic change in Arnab's views on the issue of beef ban, corresponding his change from Times Now to Republic TV.
Titled 'Arnab vs Arnab', the video shows Arnab vehemently slamming the beef ban in his Times Now days, in stark constrast against his present stance on Republic TV, when he questions those who eat beef.
The old Arnab on Times Now alleges that BJP was using the beef issue to divert the country's attention from more important issues like jobs, inflation and corruption.
The Times Now Arnab refuses to dwell on the religious angle of the issue saying, "I don't even want to get into the religious angle because forme this is not a religious issue even though it is very clear that you are going to use the food issue to divide people on the basis of religion. I am not going to discuss the religious issue."
The new Arnab on Republic TV asks, "Is deliberating trying to offend the Hindu community secular?"
The old Arnab on Times Now says, "Don't try to make this a religious argument. Let us have a logical argument. If this is a religious issue, then why don't you ban fish because fish is the avatar of Vishnu? Why don't you ban mutton because Gandhiji was a vegetarian who drank goat's milk? Why don't you ban pork or alcohol because if this is a question of religious sensitivities, religious sensitivity of everyone matter. Then ban pork and alcohol because Muslims disapprove of both."
The Republic TV Arnab declares he would stand against slaughtering an animal and eating beef.
The video ends with the old Arnab saying, "So this is all a distraction."
