Mangaluru, May 31: At its meeting held in Bengaluru on Tuesday May 30, the state cabinet, among other things, took some favourable decisions relating to coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
The cabinet gave its approval to the development of 2.2 km stretch of road on Mangaluru-Athradi state highway connecting Mangaluru International Airport as four-lane road at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The project had been announced by chief minister Siddaramaiah in the annual budget earlier this year, and will be undertaken by the public works department.
The cabinet also sanctioned multi-village drinking water projects, one costing Rs 29.93 crore for Sarapadi in Bantwal taluk and 95 residential localities, and another multi-village drinking water project costing Rs 16.95 crore for Narikombu village and 38 residential locations in the same taluk.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to sanction 58 cents land in Belma village in Mangaluru taluk for construction of a home for the destitute named 'Sevashrama' being run by the city-based Sevabhava Charitable Trust (Regd).
The revised estimate of Rs 17.21 crore for the bridge across Udyavar River within Udupi municipal limits at Malpe-Padukere has been given administrative clearance.
