Mangaluru, May 30: Vishwa Hindu Parishad Gorakshak Pramukh Dinesh Pai welcomed the Central government's move to ban cattle trade for slaughter and said that VHP strongly supports the order.

Addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday May 30, he said, "A notification regarding the ban on cattle trade for slaughter was passed on May 23. We will hold a campaign and meet the officials concerned to create awareness for the full-fledged implementation of the ban."

"We also demand the formation of an 'Animal Market Commitee' with the inclusion of a member from Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The commitee constituted under these rules should be responsible for the upkeep of a market or for the provision of fixed facilities, therefore ensuring the welfare of the animals being traded. Even though the notification of SPCA was passed in the year 2001, it is not yet fully commissioned and there are no representatives from the state. This notification needs to implemented at the earliest," he added.

"The guidelines under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules 2017 notified by the Central government, needs to be followed. Violators should not roam free and stringent action need to be taken against them. The culprits should also be made to sign a bond where they have to pay penalty as mentioned in the bond," he opined.

"An Act has to be implemented where cow slaughter can be completely banned across the country and culprits punished with five years of jail term.

"We strongly condemn the incident in Kerala where Youth Congress activists slaughtered a cow in public, cooked its meat and distributed it. They should be charged under IPC Section 295 for hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community," he said.

VHP district president Jagadish Shenava, Bajrang Dal convenor Sharan Pumpwell and others were present.

    Dears,
As per new study result in USA, If human also starts consume maximum green foods (Means Vegetables), in 2020 itself there will be a global warming. The rate of consume will be higher rate than availability.
This means, it will be applied to India too. We are already having many issues related to nature. (Lack of forest, farm lands, rain doesn't fall on time. etc...).
Lets not see deeper concern of saving animals, even look onto many other really factors which will put all indians in trouble.
Let's be one for these cause which going to be difficult in coming days.
I hope my comment doesn't',t hurt any one, if please forgive me.
This is Ramadan Month. Month of spreading Love, Peace and forgiveness.

How to take care of the old and sick cows by the thousands all across India Mr. Shetty? How much it cost to keep them feeding? The millions of poor people were making a living milking the cows and when they got old, sold them and got younger one; thus their mere survival was going on. Simply watch the terrible outcome of this totally irrational decision to appease certain section of the society. Do you have any idea, how many thousands are going to be jobless in the meat and leather industry?
Leather export as a leading country, 6 billion dollars and 7 billion in the domestic market. These are indeed Modi's big job creation!
