Udupi, May 30: The police investigating the mysterious disappearance of a youth all of a sudden from the town recently have found out that he is in Punjab, going by his cellphone location. In the meanwhile, the youth, through a WhatsApp message sent to his family, assured them that he would be coming back home soon.
The youth, Akshay Shet from Mangaluru, had gone missing all of a sudden on April 25 from the house of his aunt here. Shet's mother had breathed her last due to ill health in a hospital a few months back. Akshay was in depression due to the loss of his beloved mother, when he visited the house of his aunt here on April 24.
On the next morning, Akshay, who looked normal, sought his birth certificate from his aunt. He told her that he would come back after taking xerox copy of the certificate at Malpe, and left home in his Yamaha Libero motor bike. His aunt and other family members found out later that Akshay had not visited Malpe. He did not return home till night. The family then filed missing complaint with the police. The police, who tracked the location of his cellphone, found that Akshay was in Sastan when he made the last call to his sister to tell her that he was at Malpe.
The police here then contacted police personnel of Kota, Brahmavar and Kundapur police stations in an effort to trace the youth's whereabouts, but failed to get any clues. After sometime, they were tracking his cellphone location when they found that it was in Punjab. The youth, in the meanwhile, sent a WhatsApp message to his family, telling them that he was doing fine and that he had left home to get relieved of stress he was suffering from. He promised to return home soon.
The police have found that he has barred his SIM card and using WhatsApp to communicate with his family, as a result of which finding his exact location has become difficult. The family is a little relieved in the belief that the youth will keep his word and join them here within a few days.
