Mangaluru: Two women die in car-bus collision near Nellikar

Mangaluru, May 29: Two women died and two other persons sustained injuries in an accident near PV Nilaya, Nellikar under Moodbidri police limits on Monday May 29.

The deceased have been identified as Sujata Bhat (40), wife of Jayant Bhat, a resident of Punjalkatte, and her neighbour Vasanthi Bhat (80).

The accident took place when an Alto car moving from Punjalkatte to Sringeri collided with a private bus that was plying towards Karkala.

Jayant Bhat who was driving the car sustained injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Karkala. His mother Jalajamma (80) who was also in the car was seriously injured and shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Jayant's sons Sukesh and Sandesh escaped with minor injuries, it is learnt.

A case has been registered in Moodbidri police station.

    These accidents are almost daily occurrences. It is time that speed governors are fitted on all heavy duty vehicles. Buses are a menace. The drivers of these buses particularly in cities do not observe any rules. They park the buses anywhere they like. Take passengers at non-designated bus halts.

    Hope the hand of law comes down down all erring drivers.

    You cant say it..While walking, sitting behind bike, or by bus it doesn't mean you should drive right? Yes you are right that we should see our safety but we don't know how well it is driven who is coming infront of us...
