Kasargod, May 29: A person who reportedly cheated several women by getting married to as many as seven girls, stands arrested. Police personnel from the town station said that the person they had arrested had already become a groom seven times before they stepped in and stopped him from going ahead with further marriages.
The identity of the much-married man has been given as Abdul Khader (48), a native of Bolantoor in Bantwal taluk. He currently resides at Kalluravi in Hosdurg-Kanhangad here
Khader was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a girl from Kalluravi, Kanhangad, who was reportedly cheated by him. Cyber cell of the department helped the police to nab him. It is said that Khader used to go around places, and get acquainted with families of girls by introducing himself as an unmarried person. Once the family fell to his trap and married off their daughter to Khader, he used to escape with the gold ornaments after living with the girls for sometime, it is said. However, the seventh marriage proved to be unlucky for him as he was traced and arrested by the police.
The police have got information that Khader has 11 children from five out of his seven wives. He had married girls from B C Road, Kalladka, Ujiyadka, Vittal, Poyyattabail, Kalluravi in Kanhangad, Bayikatte, and Adur. The lady from Kalluravi had complained that Khader had fled with her ten sovereigns of gold ornaments and one lac rupees in cash all of which belonged to her, after marrying her. The police found during their investigation that Khader was a cheater but their efforts to locate his whereabouts had failed so far.
Khader was finally arrested when the accused had visited the town with his seventh wife. He has one child out of his wife from Kalluravi, four children from his wife from Kalladka, two from the lady from Ujiyadka, two from his wife from Poyyattabail and two from the one from Bayikatte.
