Udupi: 18 -year-old girl falls from bike, killed by lorry

Udupi, May 28: A pillion rider girl died on Saturday, May 28 at Padubidri after she fell from a bike and a lorry moved on her.

Sheeba (18) from Krishnapura is the person deceased. Bike rider Mohammed Mubashir (20) from Krishnapura is safe without any injuries.

As per details, Mohammed and Sheeba had gone to a college in Mangaluru together for her admission for BPharma. After that they visited Kaup beach.

While they were returning to Krishnapura, Mohammed tried to overtake a bike and braked suddenly. At that time Sheeba was thrown away from the bike. When she fell on the other side of road close to the road divider, a lorry moving from Mangaluru to Udupi moved on her legs.

Seriously injured Sheeba was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, but succumbed to injuries there.

A case stands registered against Mohammed Mubashir.

The ambulance, belonging to well known Good Samaritan Asif from Padubidri, was away at that time. But Asif rushed in his Ritz car after he heard the news and helped in taking the injured to the hospital.

    R.I.P. Many youngsters losing their life one needs to take care while driving. Most of the time the person sitting behind or next to the driver gets affected. Mangalore roads are too bumpy even the way the bus drivers drive one can else fly off. I can imagine the plight in a bike.

    there should be speeed limits.
    police should keep watch on reckless drivers an punish them.
    some steps required to stop these type of incidents.

    The bike driver Mohammed is 20.

    Mohammed "tried to overtake a bike and braked suddenly".

    Vehicle of all sorts go out of control when young people drive them. The younger they are the greater the chance of the losing control of the vehicle.

    My simple suggestion to people:
    Do go get into/on a vehicle driven by someone 30 years and younger.

    If you do, that might be your last journey.

    One more youngster loosing her life to bike travel. May her soul rest in peace. Pillion riders are not secured in case of sudden brakes. Bike manufacturers should take care of this point and add additional safety features.

    I'm sorry for the life lost, i can feel the pain of the family who lost a daughter,

    Youngster's are the worst riders, they are least bothered about safety i see everyday people drive with utter negligence, specially when there is a girl behind (need not to be lovers) its something like macho feeling must be but its utter stupidity. Nothing can change, not even law except they themselves.

    Very sad incident. RIP. Dear sisters, most of new roads around Mangalore installed unexpected humps and barricades Without any danger mark or caution board. If possible please avoid sitting in Indian style while travelling with 2 wheelers as a pillion rider.
