Kundapur, May 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is in a celebratory mood, having competed three years in power. Fans of Modi have celebrated the achievement in various ways. An auto rickshaw driver here, a sincere, die-hard fan of Modi, has celebrated the milestone by launching a special offer to passengers - charging only one rupee for a ride of up to five kilometres from May 26, for a period of four days.
S Sathish Prabhu, hailing from Ankadakatte, Kundapur has been running his auto rickshaw for the last 23 years. Sathish Prabhu who parks his auto at Vinayak auto stand is a huge fan of Modi. When Modi-led government came to power in 2014, he decided he would celebrate the first anniversary, and true to his word, he offered Re 1 per 5 km rides in May 2015.
Now, with the NDA government completing three years in power and stepping into its fourth year, Prabhu has once again introduced his limited period offer.
His passengers, though they feel uneasy about paying such a meagre amount for rides that would otherwise cost them minimum Rs 25, and over Rs 100 for 5 km, finally give in and drop one rupee coins into the box he has set up in the auto.
Sathish Prabhu has become the centre of all attention with this unique celebration. What's more, he intends to send a day's earnings to the Prime Minister through the local party leader so that it may be used for a social cause.
