Kundapur, May 25: Residents in Koteshwar submitted a petition to panchayat president Janaki Billava opposing the opening of a bar in the vicinity.
They stated that the bar for which the panchayat is preparing to issue the license is likely to come up near temple, wedding hall, ITI College and school.
“Women and people will not be able to walk about if the bar comes up here. Youth may also get addicted to vices. Therefore the license should not be issued,” they urged.
They warned that violent protests will be held if the permission is given for the bar in the future.
Janaki Billava speaking on the occasion pacified the people and said that they will not be issuing the license when they face opposition from people.
