Now an IPL with a difference!

New Delhi, May 23 (PTI): The tenth edition of the popular Indian Premier League may be over but here's another IPL which the organisers say will help relive one's most cherished childhood memories.

Penguin Random House India has launched the Indian Penguin League, a promotional book cricket game app for a limited period of time.

Remember, hiding a book under the school table and flipping through the pages to play book cricket?

The game app allows users to virtually play book cricket with any of the special edition 30th anniversary titles of Penguin Random House India and compete against other teams to achieve a perfect score.
The game is based on the concept of flipping through the pages of a book and constructing artificial cricket scores through a sequence of rules.

The game was launched over the weekend and would be available on the Penguin India Facebook page till May 25. Each day would be dedicated to a selection of carefully chosen titles - users can choose from any five titles or teams for the day and make the maximum score to help their team win quirky Penguin merchandise.

Commenting on the campaign, Hemali Sodhi, Penguin's senior vice president (Marketing & Publisher), Children's, said, "We're a nation that is absolutely crazy about cricket. This is a special year for us as we celebrate our 30th anniversary of publishing in India. The India Penguin League is a fun way to enjoy the best of both the worlds of cricket and your favourite books."

The game would be compatible for both desktop and mobile viewing.

The terms and conditions are available on the Penguin India Facebook and Twitter pages, the publishing house said.
