Chitradurga, May 19: Officials of the central income tax department raided the house and business centres of Davanagere BJP MP, G M Siddeshwara, whose house and business entities are located at Bheemasamudra in the taluk, on Thursday May 18.
It is learnt that the officials verified various documents and files during the raid.
Over 30 officials of income tax department who arrived at Bheemasamudra at around 9 am on Thursday in two buses, raided the Gutkha factory, G M Cooperative Society and areca nut wholesale trading centre belonging to Siddeshwara at Bheemasamudra.
It is said that both Siddeshwara and his son were not present during the raid.
The officials also raided the business centres owned by the MP at Davanagere and Shivamogga city in addition to Bheemasamudra. They questioned several persons during the raid.
The verification of books and files continued till 5 pm. The officials are yet to issue any official statement relating to the raid. Sources expect the raids to continue for a couple of days more.
