Kundapur, May 17: There are schools which resort to different tactics or gimmicks to outshine other schools by bagging best results. However, a school from the taluk has been inspiring its students to give their best.
This English medium school has been imparting education to students from villages around it since the last 25 years. The managing committee of this school has been thinking of new ideas to inspire its students to study well. Through this initiative, it has been making the students to study on their own, besides giving them good education at school. This is Shubhada English Medium School located at Kirimanjeshwara in the taluk. This school was opened in 1993-94 with the aim of giving education to children of rural background in English medium and lead them towards the mainstream of the society.
Shubada school happens to be the brainchild of N K Billawa, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur, who had been dreaming of starting a school in his native place. The school charges very low fee and gives good quality education. Billawa has been running the school out of his own earnings without imploring others seeking donations and financial assistance. To create an interest in the minds of the students to work harder, Billawa has implemented a scheme under which students getting over 599 marks in SSLC examination get a confirmed prize. Students who get 600 or more marks get to choose between scooty, laptop, or equivalent amount in cash.
This time, Shweta Nagappa Hebbar, who secured highest marks in SSLC, received Scooty Pep two-wheeler, which was the prize opted by the student. In a simple ceremony held in the school, Shubhada A K Billawa handed over key of the scooty and other documents to Shweta, in compliance with the promise made by the school earlier.
