Puttur, Apr 25: The fifth additional district court here has given its verdict in the case of murder of wife by husband who was angry at the fact that Sambar made by her did not taste good. It has sentenced the husband to life term imprisonment.
Suresh from Kochakatte in Perabe village in the taluk was given this punishment by judge of the court, Ramachandra, on Monday April 24. The court found that the charge of murder under section 302 of Indian Penal Code had been proved. The court also came to the conclusion that physical and mental torture under section 498 was also proved, and gave three years imprisonment and fine of Rs 3,000 for these offences. For destruction of evidence, he has been given seven years imprisonment under section 201 with a fine of Rs 3,000. Failure to pay fine in each of these two cases will attract three months each of additional jail term for the guilty.
Although a case was filed in Kadaba police station that Laxmi had fallen into the well on November 10, 2014 and died, postmortem report had proved it to be a case of murder. The court trial held later conclusively proved that Suresh had killed his wife and dumped her body into the well.
