Mysuru, Apr 17: A boy, identified as Harshal (14) from Kyadanahalli in the outskirts of the city suffered severe burn injuries after getting stuck in chemical waste dumped by certain factories in agricultural field there, and lost his life. This incident happened on Saturday April 15. Another boy has been admitted into hospital with severe burn injuries.
The incident occurred when Harshal, along with his friend, Manjunath, went out into agricultural field for defecation. He got stuck in chemical waste heaped there by factories and died after suffering 70 percent burns.
When both the boys entered the field they felt heat under their feet. Both of they tried to flee from there but Manjunath was getting sucked into the loose heap. Harshal immediately went to the rescue of his friend. Although Manjunath was saved, Harshal got stuck deep in the waste. Sometime thereafter, some passersby saw his plight and brought him out, but already he had suffered 70 percent burns.
The villagers said that chemical waste is being dumped in agricultural field belonging to Somanna from Kumbarakoppal in Mysuru during night by factories without permission.
