Services in Punjab, Haryana affected as truckers go on strike


Chandigarh, Apr 1 (IANS): Hundreds of trucks remained off the roads in Punjab and Haryana on Saturday following a strike called by various associations of truckers.

Limited movement of trucks were reported in some parts of Punjab and Haryana as majority of the trucks did not ply.

"Truckers are observing a strike today over the sharp increase in third-party insurance," Surjit Singh, a trucker based in Punjab's Jalandhar city said.

Truckers mainly operate out of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar in Punjab, Gurugram, Panipat and Ambala in Haryana and the union territory of Chandigarh.
