Mangalore, Mar 7: A one-day symposium on 'Development of Coastal Karnataka: A Historical View' will be hosted by the department of economics, Mangalore University at its Old Senate Hall on Wednesday March 12, stated a press release.
The symposium has been sponsored by the state department of archives. The programme will be inaugurated by secretary of the department Dr Usha Suresh. The keynote address will be delivered by professor Emeritus of Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management Dr N K Thingalaya.
University vice-chancellor Prof K Kaveriappa will preside while Prof G V Joshi will direct the symposium.
There will be four technical sessions in which experts will present papers on topics like development of agriculture and tourism. The development of coastal part of the state will be discussed at length during the course of the symposium.
Deputy commisioner M Maheshwar Rao and Dr Usha Suresh will be the chief guests for the valedictory to be held on the same day, stated the release.
