Mangaluru: Ramanath Rai admitted to hospital in Bengaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 16: Minister of forest and ecology and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Ramanath Rai has been admitted to hospital in Bengaluru, sources said.

Rai, who suffers from high blood pressure, took ill on Thursday March 16 and was admitted to M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, it is learnt.

Hospital sources also said that Rai is being treated by a team of doctors and is recuperating.

Rai attended the budget session of the state Assembly on Thursday morning. Thereafter, he took ill due to high blood pressure and was taken to hospital, sources said.

State Cashew Development Board president B H Khader said that Rai had been working and travelling across the district without rest for long hours for the past two weeks, which took a toll on his health.

Food and civil supplies minister U T Khader visited Rai at the hospital. Speaking to reporters later, Khader said that Rai is doing well and has been advised rest for three days, after which he is expected to get discharged.
