Udupi, Mar 1: "Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell is spoiling communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in Mudrangady area. His talk is way too communal and Muslim youths are upset about it," said former taluk president of Udupi district Muslim Union Moidinabba at deputy commissioner's office at Rajatadri, Manipal.
He was addressing the protesters who had come out on street demanding stern action against stone pelting on a mosque recently.
"We have lots of patience but it does not mean it is our weakness. Do not test our patience. The incident of pelting stones at Mudarangady mosque is condemnable. Such incidents create insecurity among us and need to be curtailed.
"Muslims of the district have lost faith in the judicial and the executive systems. There is no security to the mosques. Our community has been neglected in the area. The people arrested in connection to attack on mosques have been released on bail in just a few days," he said.
After the protest march, a memorandum was submitted to DC Priyanka Mary Francis.
The protesters demanded stringent action against people responsible for the disrupting harmony in the district, and also demanded a monthly meet in every police station limit to resolve issues facing minorities.
President of SYS Udupi Hamabba and members of Udupi district Muslim organisations participated in the protest.
