Bantwal, Feb 29: An attempt was made by a suspended pigmy collector to murder Ganapathi Bhat, former president of Farmers Cooperative Society of Panemangalore on Thursday February 28
Ganapathi Bhat, who sustained serious injuries was admitted to Mangala Hospital in Mangalore. The incident took place when Bhat was returning to his house in Bethhasaravu after performing a religious rite.
It is alleged that the murder was conspired by Suresh Naik, who was a pigmy collector at Veerakamba Farmers Cooperative Society. Personal enemity might be the motive behind the act, sources said.
Bhat had filed a case against Naik nearly a year back on charges of corruption and deceive. Later the accused got bail from the court but failed to report to the police station even once.
