Udupi, Feb 27: A youth has been admitted to Ajjarakad government hospital with injuries on Monday, February 26. He has informed the police that he was attacked by seven men on Sunday, February 25.
Munaf from Yellur is the person injured.
Munaf has claimed that he was travelling to Padubidri from Yellur when he was intercepted by seven men. He has named Kiran, Sharan and Prasad as three among the seven men.
Munaf said that he managed to run away from the attackers. But he did not contact police till he was admitted to hospital. Munaf visited the hospital after he developed chest pain.
After a truck driver was assaulted on Saturday, Hindu activists protested in front of Padubidri police station demanding arrest of assaulters. The protest continued even on Sunday. Police later arrested one person believed one of the culprits.
In a related incident, Hindu activists damaged the light on the gate of Mudarangady mosque on Sunday.
Police have taken precautionary measures in and around Padubidri to avoid untoward incidents.
