Accused of stealing Rs 100 from classmate, 13-year-old hangs self

Mysuru, Feb 16 (DC): A 13-year-old boy from Mysuru hung himself from the ceiling after he was accused of stealing Rs 100 from a classmate.

According to reports, Pavan, a seventh standard student of Sri Bhyraveshwara School in Metagalli police limits, killed himself at his residence after returning from school.

After collecting the house keys from a neighbour on returning home, Pavan hung himself to death from the ceiling.

Pavan took Rs 100 from a friend’s bag last week and spent Rs 30. But after realising his mistake, Pavan returned the sum of money to his friend.

However, school officials summoned the boy's father Jayasheelan and apprised him of the situation. Following this, Pavan's father scolded him, causing the boy to take the extreme step.

Pavan was in his school uniform when he committed suicide, police said.

The boy's father has lodged a police complaint alleging that his son was humiliated by the school authorities. His father told media persons that he had given Rs 100 to Pavan, who spent a portion of it.

So sad.here many things unluckily came together. On the day boy came home with accused in school, noone was there to console him ,and school authorities accused hima nd father too scolded him.school authoritys should have closed the matter after he gave the money back.children are everywhere, same,in that age, without much thought do things later but feel sorry.Father too think a little and defend him saying he gave the money.Lord, poor boy had to suecide because of hundred rupees. Please dont leave the children alone at home when they are school going ,and have problems. Many are so sensible and feel left alone and do things childish but lifethreatening.May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.A thought to school authoritys too not to make children in front of all cheaper.

School authorities think, by scolding & humiliating the students, they have done a great job. In fact they are the number one enemy of the innocent children.

Parents should have protected the child. If the child is not comfortable in that school, change the school. Listen to your children. For parents, children should be first not their results, not school.

wrong doing in that age is not a crime. it is just childish behavior but many school authorities in our native make this kind of incident to big drama and kill the children mentally. I blame the school authorities. We behave abusing is our birth right. God civilize us at the earliest.

21st century children cannot be handled like 20th century ones. Even after getting lots of punishments from the school teachers and parents those children never thought of suicide in their life. Now the children are quite sensitive.

No one can be blamed here. If the student's parent was very poor, then blame the gap in income levels. RIP

Such a sad thing ...TV and youtube should be banned for kids until 15 years . Cant blame anyone there is no perfect way to handle any situation and once it happens we keep blaming parents , school, etc . We should not and i dont think any parent or school will have bad intentions .

What a tragedy ? Just Rs.100 cost his life .Considering the value of life its nothing. Nowadays some people, students opt for suicides for silly matters.

All those who are giving unsolicited advise to the father and the school authorities, please take care of your own children. A young life is lost and if father and school people feel responsible, let them figure out what went wrong. To me, this incident only motivates to spend more time with my kids so that I know them better.

Some children are very sensitive and should be treated carefully.A young life has been lost and that is tragic. We have gone through this mischief age .Any way this boy should have been forgiven and given a path of which is good and which is bad.Something could have been done before it was too late.I feel sorry for this young boy.

Parents have to put their major effort in bringing up their children. Schools and teachers love children to certain extent, they have their own basic responsibilities.
Parents should not humiliate children for any of their mistakes, instead should teach them how to face the humiliation.

In Kerala, the Chairman, Vice Principal and some teachers of a reputed Engineering College were summoned by the police for humiliating a student publicly and causing his suicide! These days, the youngsters are not prepared to face big shocks! So, better be careful.

The father is equally responsible for his son's suicide. Why did he, instead of scolding, not take the boy into confidence and explain lovingly about the incident which is wrong to to be doing ? The boy was subjected to double humiliation, not just at school.

Foremost, its wrong to keep money with school children. When one sees money with his peer, he gets tempted thus steals it. Nevertheless, he realised his mistake and returned the sum. The matter would have shut after counselling the boy about the misdeed. It should not have blown out of proportion.

Will anything bring the young soul back ? No ! Rather pray that his soul rests in peace.

Shame on those who handled this matter. Children are sensitive, do petty errors due to innocence. Theft of money by children should be handled very carefully. Rip young soul.
