Pamplona, Feb 12 (IANS): Real Madrid edged past last-placed Osasuna 3-1 at the El Sadar football stadium in La Liga here.
Real Madrid on Saturday ended the first half tied with Osasuna 1-1 despite an initial goal by Ronaldo at 24th minute, reports Efe.
Osasuna, which lost Tano due to a serious injury after 13th minute, threatened the visitors' goal more during the first half than the other way around as might have been expected.
So, the first half ended in a tie after Cristiano Ronaldo's smooth go-ahead goal was equalled by Sergio Leon in the 33rd minute.
After coming back from halftime, Real Madrid took awhile but finally got down to business as Isco Alarcon took advantage of a defensive mix-up by Osasuna. In the 63rd minute he provided the much needed advantage by slamming a low kick from inside the area.
Lucas Vazquez followed it up with another at minute 93 to give Real Madrid its respectable-looking 3-1 win.
