Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (PMD)

Mangaluru, Feb 11: Commemorating the 75th birth year of legendary Konkani singer, Wilfy Rebimbus, also known as Konkan Kogull, renowned Konkani singer Prem Lobo will release 'Wilfy Rebimbus-ak Premall
Jhelo' at the Wilfy Nite at Udyavar on Sunday, February 12.

The Konkani audio-CD of 11 compositions is dedicated to Wilfy Rebimbus. Prem Lobo has written the lyrics, rendered the tunes and also produced the music CD.

This is the second volume of Prem's musical composition after 'Premall Ulo'.

"These songs are similar to Wilfy's compositions. I had collaborated with Wilfy from 1969. At times, I was with him throughout the day. He was the reason for success in the industry. I dedicate this CD to him," says contented composer Prem.

Special touch

"The CD is a thematic collection. There is a central theme in every song, just like in Wilfy's compositions. This collection is for music enthusiasts of all genres. The CD has a few songs revolving around modern social themes. There is a song about wearing gold and chain snatchers from a contemporary perspective," explains Prem.

Fulfilling the request of his fans in Gulf, Prem has composed a song 'Vagancho Khell', on the local tiger dance which is known as ‘Pili Vesha'.

Ashith Pinto has composed the music for the CD.

"Promos of a few songs were uploaded on WhatsApp and Facebook and 'Vagancho Khell' in particular, became an instant hit in the social media circles." Ashith Pinto says.

Apart from songs on social themes, the CD has a few compositions exclusively for the Konkan Kogull. 'Wilfychea Githanchem Geet', is one such composition, where 23 of Wilfy's song titles have been blended into a song.

“We have also included 'Shrid'dhanjoli' in the album, which was performed during Premall Nite in 2010. And, one of the songs in the CD is dedicated exclusively to Wilfy's family," says Prem.

Singers

"We have a tremendous amount of talent in young singers. The children who won the 1st place in Don Bosco competitions, youth artistes and members of church choirs have rendered their voices for this audio
compilation,” Prem says.

Singers in the CD include Prem Lobo, Joslin and Joylin Fernandes, Rony Crasta, Ivan Sequeira, Babita Pinto, Ethan Pinto (child), Simone (Child), Sonia (child), Shervin (child), Ashwin D'Costa, Munita Rao, Jude and Sylvia Fernandes, Prakash D'Souza and Dolwin Kolalgiri.

Joswin D'Cunha has played the lead and rhythm guitar, and Johnson Nikhil Salins has played the saxophone.

The CD was recorded at Daijiworld Audio Visual Pvt Ltd, a state-of-the-art studio, with Srinivas recording and mixing the music and Ashith Pinto directing and programming the songs. Ashith is the also the bass and rhythm guitarist for the songs. He is joined by Dolwin for rhythm programming of the melodious collection.

Daijiworld.com is the official web partner for the CD.

Unique book on Stations of the Cross

"Konkani ought to be spoken at home as children anyway speak English in school. I have created a unique book for Lent titled ‘Hanv Tuje Vatter’ in Konkani. The book contains three different Stations of the Cross. One of them is based on the religious hymns created by Wilfy including famous ‘Nirashechya Vellar’. Another is on the trial and tribulations of Mother Mary. The third one is on the feelings of one of the two thieves crucified with Lord Jesus. My parents taught me to read and speak Konkani at home and I dedicate this book to them," concludes Prem.

The CD ‘Premall Zhelo’ and the book ‘Hanv Tuje Vatter’ will be released by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese during mega event 'Wilfy Nite' on Sunday February 12 at Udyavar. The show is hosted by Udupi diocese, Catholic Sabha and SMKC from Dubai.

All proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Pavoor, a home for the aged and needy which at present does not have a women's wing. Five couples Elias & Geanette, Conel & Anita, Cedric & Vanet, Sunil & Prashubha, Pratham & Sharon have sponsored this CD.

Prem also wants to distribute the ‘Hanv Tuje Vatter’ book free of cost at churches like Retreat House and Infant Jesus.
