Bengaluru: Law and order situation going the Bihar way - BJP

Bengaluru, Feb 10 (DHNS): Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar on Thursday said Karnataka was going the Bihar way as far as law and order was concerned.

Sexual assault on women is on the increase. Women are not able to roam around without fear in the night. Incidents of molestation of women during New Year celebrations have dented the image of Bengaluru. Underworld gangs are fighting openly in public, he said, while speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address.

He accused the government of losing control over the administration. One of the main reasons for the situation going out of control is too much political interference in transfers and posting of officers. A case in point is the government transferring IAS officer Subodh Yadav 17 times in the last 15 years, he said.

The government should ensure that at least 50% of the police officers in Bengaluru are honest and hard-working.

“Was there a need for mass transfer of police officers in Bengaluru on December 31 last year? The transfer order was issued despite knowing fully well that hundreds of youth will be gathering on MG Road and Brigade Road to celebrate new year,” Shettar said, charging that the incidents of molestation were a testimony to the maladministration in the state.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a golden opportunity to provide effective administration. “He not only has full majority in the Assembly, the Congress high command has also become weak. But he failed to make use of the opportunity. The government has been in deep slumber for the last three years and nine months,” Shettar said.

Does anyone know why BJP lost the last state assembly election in Karnataka ? it is because of its miss doings during its tenure. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar should know the attacks on women in Mangalore during the BJP tenure. We can name them the Pub attack in M'lore, the home stay attack at M'lore, even the church attack all during the BJP tenure in Karnataka. Does Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar know what is he trying to explain.

Arguments here are more about ones political leaning than the subject matter itself. I would like to state that indeed law and order has taken a severe hit at least in Bangalore Mysore regions and one of the major readons is posting inefficient policemen who have political leaning to the present govt. and also caste. So many bar licences have been shifted from village limits to city outskirts that one gets a feeling the govt. earns merely by intoxicating its people. Not only wine shops but also hotels without wine license serving alcohol from next door wine shops and binge drinking have become order of the day. One can also see patrol personnel in Chief ministers home town binge drinking, collecting roll call from vegetable vans and trucks and every tom dick and harry on ring roads. Hafta collection and kidnapping extortion have reached a all time high. Just before boarding a bus to Mangalore today at 11 p.m. our car was rounded in circles 6 to 8 times by two goons speaking Telgu, sometimes switching high beam into our faces so much so that we had to send female members back home in the car all this a stones throw away from a police station and even removing a fat stick from the dicky of their yellow board car. These kind of situations were very rare before and an eye opener about law and order situation.

Very unfortunate to see , the article as well as the comments are purely based on party... we are asking was not there in BJP time... what's wrong to have in Congress tenure. Whether you have not done.. why I shouldn't do... OMG. Where are we heading.... What a bench mark we are referring to ...

No discussion on the real issues. Women harassment issue is there in state... YES, we all evidenced it. Law and order gone for toss.. YES , we all evidenced it... open gang wars, many activists murdered in day light. Honest officers are in trouble... YES , we evidenced it with multiple incidents...

Why the current state government own the responsibility and bring these in control. Irrespective whether it was there during BJP tenure or not.... get the fixed ASAP, on top priority. then opposition will not have anything to call and people also need not listen to any of these things... Get confidence on current government. Unless it's taken care by current state government lead by Sidderamiah or Nidderamaiah.... please be prepared to be at home after next election, I am telling you. whether opposition calls it or not.. whether Shetter calls it or not... people are seeing and evidencing... so be prepared for next election and be at home or Italy after next election.

Huge public money is spent for conducting elections. There after huge public money is also being spent in running legislature and towards expenditure of MLA's and ministers. When we see these empty chairs in legislative assembly we could realise how our hard earned money collected in the form of taxes is being wasted. I think government should release the attendance of MLAs and performance of ministers periodically, so that people can teach them a lesson in next election. Invariably in our democracy we will have to wait for 5 years to teach them a lesson!

He should shut Nidramayya's "Kumbhakarna sleep". What else you can expect from a government who is busy sending 'hafta' money to Italian amma and her son Pappu?

David, we know the Congress party & the supporters always made poor & honest people to shut their mouth by threatening . They are known for that.
    Sachayee kadva lagtha hie .

90% of Wine shops are allowing or providing place to consume liquor within their premises, which is legally not allowed. In Karnataka no one bother to restrict them because Police are taking Hafta from Wine shop people. One o the shop keeper I asked why you allow this, he said otherwise customer will go to other shop.

Be honest & don't blindly support any corrupt party or people, try to help to build a decent society.
