Bengaluru, Feb 8: A police team comprising about 40 personnel raided the residence of well-known journalist, Agni Sridhar, here on Tuesday February 7 on the accusation of sheltering a person accused of posing threat to a real estate businessman. Close associate of Sridhar, identified as Amanulla Bachchan, and six private security personnel were arrested on this occasion.
The police also recovered four revolvers, bullets, button knife, sword, foreign liquor bottles, three lac rupees in cash, dagger, and baseball bats from the arrested persons. The names of the arrested persons have been given as Syed Amanulla Bachchan (54), private gunmen, Brajbhushan Hussain (38), Ramkumar Roy (37), Shabbir Ali (51), Tanveer (34), Arunkumar (24), and car driver, Varun (20).
Agni Sridhar, who collapsed to the ground due to high blood pressure during the raid, was admitted into a hospital.

Although Agni Sridhar's name appears in the rowdy sheet opened by the city police, raid on him was conducted for the first time. The police said that appointment of private security staff is a clear violation of law. The security staff were guilty of violating law by possessing revolvers. Sridhar, Bachchan, and seven others have booked under different provisions of law.
The raid was conducted in connection with a case filed by Tata Ramesh, a realtor, in Yalahanka police station. After they suspected that main accused in this case, Rohit alias Onte, a rowdy sheeter, was provided shelter in Agni Sridhar's residence, the investigating team armed with search warrant from the court, raided Sridhar's residence. Four deputy commissioners of police, 16 assistant commissioners of police and over 20 inspectors were in the raiding team. The raid was conducted under the directions of city additional police commissioner, Hemant Nimbalkar, Malini Krishnamurty, deputy commissioners of police, Harsh, and Sharanappa.
